It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
It hardly feels like Halloween is near until It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown airs on TV. Ditto the Charlie Brown Christmas special. There is something about the scene where Snoopy pretends to be a World War II fighter pilot in France with a flute playing eerily in the background that makes me extremely nostalgic somehow; that part used to make me a little scared when I was very young. It feels a bit silly to admit that it’s one of the very few things that makes me feel sentimental about childhood, though it seems, after airing for over 40 years now, that is its effect on many of us. It’s a shame that I’ll miss it this year.
