macadamia monster mash

(photo via jonsiandalex.com) It’s not very often that you come across a recording artist that has a “Recipes” section on their official web site, but it’s not very often that you come across a pair like Jónsi Birgisson (Sigur Rós) and visual artist Alex Somers. Riceboy Sleeps is the name of the LP the pair have released, [...]

Sponsorship

I’ve been thinking a lot about corporate sponsorship lately, ever since I read that AT&T was one of the largest corporate donors to both Bush/Cheney campaigns, and then to the McCain/Palin campaign in 2008.  I had no idea, and I wonder how many other iPhone users in the US realize this, as AT&T has an [...]

Woodstock remembered

It’s amazing to think that this week marks the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, when the likes of Hendrix and Joplin still existed.   I asked my dad if there is anything still to be learned from the occasion, and his response was (verbatim): “Yes!  We showed you can have 500,000 people living together in shitty [...]

Live blogging la revolucion

Not really, but here are a few updates from yesterday’s protest here in Reykjavik: Here’s the agenda that Alþingi (Icelandic parliament) was scheduled to discuss yesterday inside while the protests were taking place outside, the first day back in session after a 5-week holiday in a country that is bankrupt and whose citizens are demanding resignations [...]
